What can you use the app for?

NoRedInk is an educational tool that allows teachers to help their students learn more effectively. The application was designed by a teacher, which allows it to address many of the problems educators face when juggling many students and limited time. Engaging content is used instead of the bland sentences usually found in text books. These include topics focused on celebrities, television, hobbies and friends. An adaptive learning system is applied so students who get stuck can access tutorials to correct mistakes and overcome the obstacle. Practice exams, assignments and quizzes are provided as well as progress tracking features. Students can work independently at their own pace so their teachers can determine the best ways to instruct them based on individual need.

What is the history and popularity of the app?

NoRedInk has received rave reviews from users. The application goes to great lengths to help the user along. If the user continues to respond incorrectly, the application becomes more specific and unique with its responses until the user figures things out. So far NoRedInk has impressed those on both sides of the learning equation, from teachers to students and their parents.

What are the differences to other apps?

NoRedInk stands out for a number of reasons. First, the application makes the experience fun and interesting for students by incorporating examples and questions related to hobbies, celebrities and friends. The adaptive learning system is another great addition because it refines its approach based on the individual need of the student. This also gives teachers helpful insight into how each student is performing and what they may need to improve.

How does the web app look and feel to use?

NoRedInk welcomes users with a clean interface that features eye-catching personality. Cartoonish figures recreate a library or classroom hard at work. The site uses hints of blue and red against soft yellow and white to avoid distracting the user without sacrificing personality. Users will have no trouble learning how to navigate as they complete assignments, manage classes or take quizzes.

How does the registration process work?

New users can try NoRedInk by choosing the “Teacher” or “Student” button on the homepage. A form will pop up and ask for a username, password, email address, first name, last name, gender and optional title. The user is automatically logged in and can take a quick tour of the application before getting started.

What does it cost to use the application?

NoRedInk is available to all students and teachers at no cost. Anyone can sign up and access all current features on the site at no cost. There are no limitations so students can access unlimited practice sessions whenever they need them. The site does mention a NoRedInk Premium option that is intended for schools. Interested educational institutes can contact NoRedInk to be considered for the premium pilot program.

Who would you recommend the application to?

NoRedInk is a great tool for anyone involved in the learning process. Students and their parents can enjoy a more streamlined, personal educational experience while teachers can improve the way they address the learning needs of those they instruct. The application also helps identify problem areas and provides resources to overcome them as the student works. The application is even available for free, which is a huge plus for everyone!
